Jodi Ristrom, CPA

Jodi Ristrom is an accounting manager and supervises HMWC CPAs & Business Advisors’ Accounting & Audit department, specializing in business assurance services. Jodi has been a CPA since 1996 and has extensive experience in public accounting, as well as over eight years as an accountant in private and publicly-held businesses.

In her position, Jodi is generally responsible for all phases of an engagement, including: a thorough knowledge of the client and all facets of the client’s business; managing the progress of the work in the field; coordination with the client’s management group; assuring that all phases of the engagement are being carried out properly with the highest standards; dealing directly with the client’s attorney or brokers, taxing authority agents, and other third parties; interfacing with HMWC’s tax and other departments as necessary; and supervising the preparation of management letters and tax returns. She also maintains a knowledge of general economic and political trends, and of possible tax or other legislation that could affect the business climate.

Experience
After graduation, Jodi was recruited by a national accounting firm and joined HMWC in 2005. Jodi works with a variety of industries, including manufacturing, construction, service, and has a specialty in employee benefit audits and private foundations.

Education
Jodi earned her B.A. degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting from California State University of Fullerton.

Professional & Community Involvement
Jodi is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and California Society of Accountants. She is a member of Western Pension Benefits and Orange County Compensation and Benefits Association. She is active in the community and is on the Advisory Committee of the Tustin Community Foundation. She is involved with the Tustin Chamber of Commerce, and is on the board of the Foothill High School Wrestling Boosters. Jodi is also actively involved with Toastmasters International.
